Glenn College Index

Glenn College, situated in the grounds of La Trobe University, Bundoora (Melbourne, Australia) is the university's first College. It was built in 1966-67 and named after the first Chancellor of the University, Sir Archibald Glenn.

Located close to the centre of the University, it is surrounded by trees and a moat system in the front. It consists of four wings built around a central courtyard. Three of these are residential, while the fourth contains the Dining Hall, central office, recreation rooms, tutorial rooms, computer room and lounge areas. This structure enables noisier recreational activities to occur away from the residential areas. Accommodation is provided for 340 residents.

Glenn is La Trobe's only catered College. Breakfast and Dinner are served daily in the Dining Hall, providing residents with many opportunities to meet and make new friends. Menus are carefully selected to provide a wide variety of fresh and nourishing meals.

Breakfast is served daily and consists of cereals, toast and spreads, orange juice, tea or coffee and fresh fruit. A late, two hour cooked brunch is served Sundays, allowing both a sleep in and a chance to catch up with other residents in a relaxed atmosphere.

Dinner each night is a three course meal consisting of soup, a choice of 5 or 6 main courses, dessert and fresh fruit. Western and Oriental courses feature each night with salads and vegetables selected from self serve counters.

Spaced through the year are theme nights, with food from particular countries featured. American night, Mexican night and Christmas in July are examples of theme nights.

Vegetarian options are available each day and special dietary requirements can usually be accommodated. Caterers and chefs are interested in suggestions from residents and many good ideas have come from our residents.

Glenn College also has substantial conference and function facilities.

For more information on Student accommodation please see the sections on Residential Information, and for conference facilities see Conference Information.
